covid-19 update - March 23, 2020

Dear SERC 2020 Registrant,

We are devastated by having to cancel the 2020 SERC. In its 20+ year history, SERC has never been canceled but with the current situation, we could not in good conscience move forward with the conference. As events have continued to unfold since last Thursday, we know we made the right decision despite the financial, personal, and professional loses encountered in this decision.

We are so thankful for you – our attendees, our speakers, and our sponsors – and your ongoing support in this decision and your patience as we figured out how to move forward. The SERC 2020 planning team, in coordination with the SERC Advisory Board made up of chapter representatives from each of the participating chapters, decided on the following options for registrants.

CONFERENCE REFUNDS

The funding for this conference is based on the 10 chapters’ initial investment along with the prudent expenditure of funds by previous conferences to build reserves that create the exceptional conference experience you have each year at SERC. Because we were only four days out from the conference, many expenses were already paid out in preparation for you joining us in Tampa, including deposits for the hotel and social, printing, and other conference expenses. Keeping in mind our fiscal responsibility both to future conferences, the participating chapters, and you, our attendees, we are offering the following refund options:

  1. You can transfer your registration, in full, to the 2021 SERC conference, which will take place in Nashville, TN, from March 1 – 3, 2021. 100% of your registration will be used as a credit to next year’s conference.
  2. You can receive a 75% refund on your paid SERC 2020 registrations to the original payment method (any complimentary registrations will be canceled).
  3. For those who registered for the hockey event, you will receive a 100% refund to the original payment method.

In either case, your decision must be made and processed by June 1, 2020 or you will forfeit the funds for the 2020 registration. Please use the following form to process your request: https://forms.gle/GhKiGWFuLV5cA2VPA. You should receive a confirmation from the form upon submittal. Please allow 4 – 6 weeks for us to process everything. Sponsors will receive separate phone calls from our sponsorship team with refund options. If you have any concerns with these options, please contact Michelle Erste, chair of the SERC Advisory Board, at [email protected] or 770-238-7408.

VIRTUAL CONFERENCE

We are already working on plans to host a virtual conference that will be open to all current 2020 registrants and delivered as webinars over the coming months. We will kick off with our keynote, Stop and Shift with Karen Millsap on Friday, April 3rd at 11:30 am. The remaining sessions will take place every Friday thereafter until all speakers have participated who want to! Technology for this virtual experience is sponsored by Full Sail Partners.

The schedule for the virtual conference has already started to be developed! You can see which webinars are available and sign up. We’ll send an additional communication in the coming week with more information and links as more sessions come online, so please be on the lookout for an email from us with that information! We hope this will also allow those of our registrants who need CEUs to still get them in the coming months before CPSM renewal in December and allows our amazing speakers to share their knowledge with you all. As always, HQ staff will make sure that the CEU credits get added to your account!

Again, we appreciated your ongoing support of SERC, the SMPS chapters and Headquarters. We hope that you and your firms will stay well during this unprecedented time and that you will continue to support SERC in future years by transferring your registration to the 2021 conference in Nashville.

We’d like to again thank our planning team, speakers, and sponsors.
