Jennifer Weaver, CPSM – Charlotte is Business Development Manager for Intertek-PSI, overseeing the Carolinas region. She has been in the industry for over 10 years, a member of SMPS for five of those years, and earned her CPSM in 2016. Jen has volunteered on various committees and has filled roles on the board as Programs Director, President Elect, President, and Past President of the Charlotte Chapter, and is currently Co-Chair for the SERC Conference in 2019. On a more personal note, she loves her dog Munchkin, makes up for her terrible athletic ability with karaoke, loves binging TV and movies on the couch on Saturdays, and traveling the globe whenever she can!
Rebecca Maddox, CPSM – Charlotte is senior proposal manager for Cardno, Inc., a professional infrastructure and environmental services company with more than 130 offices worldwide. Prior to joining the A/E/C industry, Rebecca completed dual master’s degrees in Communications Studies and Spanish Translation and worked as Foreign News Producer with NBC News Channel. After getting married in 2005 to husband Daniel in Amelia Island, FL (think SERC 2017!), she re-located to Tampa Bay where she joined Jacobs Engineering Group. While in Florida, she served as board member for International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and as Sponsorship Chair for the IABC Southeastern Regional Conference in Tampa Bay. She returned to Charlotte in 2013 and has been an active member of SMPS Charlotte since 2014. On weekends, you will find her on an early morning run or keeping up with two kids and never-ending house remodel projects.
Shirley Dimon, CPSM – Tampa Bay joined SMPS in 1999, at the start of her career. She has worked in the marketing department of architectural, engineering, and construction firms and currently at RS&H as Regional Marketing Manager for the Mid-Atlantic South Region. Shirley recognizes how valuable SMPS has been to her career and is passionate about providing that same value to other SMPS members. After serving on the SMPS Tampa Bay Board in various positions, last year (2017-2018), she was President of the SMPS Tampa Bay Chapter and now joining forces with Kristin Downer to serve as Co-Chairs for SERC 2020 conference to be held at Marriott Tampa Waterside March 16-18, 2020.
Kristin Downer – Tampa Bay – before joining Biltmore Construction, Kristin Downer had her own consulting business for 15 years where she assisted a variety of architectural, engineering and construction management firms with strategic marketing and business development services. Passionate about strategic marketing, Kristin holds a BA in Communications from the University of South Florida and has been serving the professional services industry since 1991. During that time, she has been instrumental in strategically positioning companies to win more work in less time by conducting market research/planning efforts, streamlining key marketing functions and processes, managing many winning proposal efforts, creating and implementing many PR, promotional and direct mail campaigns and developing and managing numerous marketing information databases. Kristin is an A Capella singer in a Sweet Adelines chorus; she also loves to swim, play golf, spend time with family and friends, and drink wine.
Rebecca Edleston, CPSM – Atlanta is a Senior Marketing Coordinator with KCI Technologies, Inc. A member of SMPS since 2011, Rebecca has served as Director-at-Large of the Education committee, Treasurer, and is the current past-President of the Atlanta Chapter. Before her official “career” took over all of her spare time, she designed project samples for scrapbook companies to take to trade shows and to publish online in order to sell their products, ran a personal craft blog, and also owned a for-profit craft blog focused on organizing craft supplies. She lives in Lawrenceville, Georgia with her new husband, their two dogs, Desmo and Tesi, and more than a few chickens.
Amy Jones, Marketing Coordinator for HDR’s South Atlantic Area Water Business Group, has over 6 years of experience working in the A/E/C industry. She has been a member of SMPS Charlotte since 2014, serving on both the membership and program committees, and most recently serving as the Director of Education. Amy is excited to be serving as the Social Committee Chair for SERC 2019. Originally from New Orleans, LA, Amy has now lived in Charlotte for 13 years. She enjoys crafting, volunteering with the children’s choir at church, watching SEC football (Geaux Tigers! LSU!) and travelling to the beach, Disney World and other fun cities with her husband Matt and three children, Macy, Molly and Avery.
Mary Jo Butcher – Atlanta, is the Marketing Manager for PES Structural Engineers, one of the largest single discipline structural engineering firms on the East Coast, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia with a regional office in Connecticut. She joined the AEC industry in 2006 and has been a member of SMPS Atlanta since 2012. She has served as a member of the Membership committee, Director-at-Large of Sponsorship, and is the current Co-Director-at-Large of the Communications committee. On a personal note, she loves the beach, listening to live music, Georgia Southern football, and is a self-proclaimed Bravo-holic.
Abby Smith – Charlotte, is the Marketing Coordinator for Walbridge, a 103 year old construction company with the Southeastern Operations based out of Charlotte, North Carolina. Abby joined the AEC industry March of 2016 and has been serving on the Education Committee for the SMPS Charlotte chapter. On a more personal note, she enjoys live music, morning markets, has a huge green thumb and travels any chance she gets.
Lindsay Diven, CPSM – Central Florida is a Senior Consultant with Full Sail Partners. In this position, she works with clients to implement Deltek’s CRM, Custom Proposal, and SF330 modules, as well as the Client Feedback Tool. As a former marketing director, Lindsay offers 13 years of marketing strategy and management experience to A/E/C firms. She has been a member of SMPS since 2005 and served the Central Florida Chapter as Membership and Education chairs. She has also been involved with SERC since 2016 as an Advisor, as well as with communications and programs committees. She currently lives in Gainesville, home to her beloved Florida Gators! She is married with two kids and new labradoodle puppy.
Kafferti Durham, CPSM – Charlotte, is a Senior Marketing Coordinator for Whiting-Turner, overseeing the Virginia and North Carolina offices. She has been in the industry for seven years, and a member of SMPS for five. She earned her CPSM in 2017. Kafferti has volunteered on various committees and has filled roles on the board as Membership Director, President Elect, President, and is currently Past President of the Charlotte Chapter. On a more personal note, she loves coffee, Game of Thrones (yes, the books!), hot yoga, FSU football, is a foodie and is admittedly obsessed with French Bulldogs (but sadly doesn’t own one…yet!!).
Janet Brooks, CPSM – Charlotte is Director of Business Development for Clark Nexsen. Her entire career has been within the AEC industry having worked for both design and construction firms. She has particular expertise in business development, multi-discipline marketing, and communications and public relations. She has been a member of SMPS for over 23 years, and earned her CPSM in 2008. Janet has served on the Charlotte Chapter Board in various capacities including: Director of Programs, Director of Education, President Elect, President, and Past President, and has also been an active member on the regional and national levels. Janet served on the National Certification Committee for two years and is currently serving on the SMPS Foundation National Board of Trustees as President-Elect.
Tracy Sagehorn, CPSM – Charlotte is the Marketing Manager for Vannoy Construction, overseeing five offices across North and South Carolina. She has been in the industry for 20 years, a member of SMPS for 14, and earned her CPSM in 2008. Tracy served on the board for six years in various roles including: Secretary, Treasurer, President Elect, President, and Past President. She also re-joined the Charlotte Board this past year as Director of Communications when the Chapter needed someone to fill in. On a more personal note, she loves photography, crafts, Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, listening to live music, reading, as well as enjoying a beer at any local breweries.
Kathleen Chambers, CPSM – Charlotte – As Marketing Director for S&ME, Kathleen Chambers, CPSM, provides management and direction for S&ME’s marketing and communications initiatives. She has over 30 years of experience in the A/E/C industry managing marketing teams across California, Florida, Connecticut, and North Carolina. Nurturing the next generation of marketers is Kathleen’s passion. As a leader at S&ME, she works to create a collaborative environment where marketing team members can share, grow, explore, and develop their talents. Kathleen has been a member of SMPS since 1997, has served in leadership positions in both Charlotte and Connecticut, and is now volunteering for her third Regional Conference Committee. She received her CPSM designation in 2002.
Michelle Erste, CPSM – Atlanta is the Marketing Manager at Wolverton, responsible for internal and external marketing, business development and communications for the company. She has over 14 years of marketing experience and combines her upbringing – she is the daughter of a transportation engineer – and her education – she was a theater director in New York City, to find new and visual ways to say things, drive the marketing chase, and teach engineers new tricks. She has been a member of SMPS Atlanta for five years, a CPSM for four years and actively engaged in SERC for three years. She currently serves as SMPS Atlanta’s President after leading the Education Committee for two years and serving as President Elect. On the weekends, you’ll find Michelle most often chauffeuring her kids between soccer practice and ballet practice, playing with her dog and three cats, lost in a book or planning her next trip to the beach.
Emily Cannon, CPSM – Atlanta is the Corporate Marketing Director for Brasfield & Gorrie, where she has been for 8 years. Emily earned her CPSM in 2014 and has been involved with SMPS’ Southeast Regional Conference in varying roles since then. Personal interests include cooking, traveling, interior design, Auburn football, and helping with her mom’s food blog, Preserving Good Stock, when time allows.
Joan Borchardt – Atlanta – for the past eight years, Joan Borchardt has served as the Chapter Administrator for SMPS Atlanta, and has also collaborated with the Planning Committee for the annual SMPS Southeastern Regional Conference (SMPS-SERC). Joan has more than 15 years of experience planning and implementing corporate meetings, regional and national conferences, training workshops, award programs, and social networking events. Joan is the Owner of Moxie Meeting Planning LLC, an independent meeting planning and association management firm located in Atlanta. She supports a diverse range of non-profit professional associations, and oversees her client events from initial planning to successful implementation. Joan Borchardt graduated from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, and earned her Master’s degree from Emory University in Atlanta.
Donna Corlew, FSMPS, CPSM – Nashville is driven by a passion for coaching and helping others identify and maximize their unique talents and expertise, Donna Corlew, CPSM, works with A/E/C firms across the US to facilitate strategic vision and market research, build connections and chemistry with clients and targets, and coach seller/doers and marketing/business development teams. Her clients benefit from a robust network developed over three decades in almost every geographic market and service needed to effectively grow their business. Donna achieved the designation of CPSM in 1993 and elevated to the status of Fellow in 2004. Active in SMPS since 1987 on local, regional, and national levels, Donna served as Society President in 2007-2008. A native Tennessean, Donna’s roots run deep in Southern hospitality, a culture of giving, and an abiding love of SEC football (Roll Tide!) and Nashville Predators hockey.
Sara Downing, CPSM – Charlotte is Business Development Manager for Shiel Sexton Company. She serves the Carolinas region with a focus on office, education and living. She has been in the AEC industry since 2003 and earned her CPSM in 2009. Sara has served in various roles on the SMPS Charlotte board, notably as President in 2012. Her most recent SMPS involvement has been leading the SERC Advisory Board and on the national certification committee. She is a proud mama to an active 3.5 year old son, Whit. In her very sparse free time, she enjoys renovating her mid-century modern fixer upper and restoring curbside furniture finds.
